Popular image sharing app Imgur finally comes to iPhone and iPad

by TabTimes Staff

August 2 2013

Image sharing service Imgur has launched its first iOS app, just one month after releasing a similar app for Android.

The news marks something of a turnaround for Imgur, with Apple having reportedly rejected the app’s submission to the App Store on five different occasions because of concerns over copyright violations and inappropriate content.

As with the Android version, iOS app (free, iTunes) users are able to upload, share and comment on images, as well as manage galleries. They can also search through the service’s collection of photographs, memes and GIFs.

Imgur has become a huge hit, largely thanks to the fact that the application is so popular on social news website Reddit.

The service now apparently receives 4 billion page views and 80 million unique visitors each month, with 35% of this traffic coming from mobile.
