Judge rules Apple’s App Store is not a monopoly

U.S. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has rejected suit alleging that Apple holds a monopoly over iOS applications.

Rogers dismissed the suit on Thursday on grounds that the plaintiffs hadn’t shown that they had purchased any of the apps in question. A lawyer confirmed that the claimants plan to re-file.

The suit was originally filed in 2011 and accused Apple of attempting to create a monopoly by creating an ecosystem where apps were only available to download from the App Store/

The lawsuit also claimed that, with Apple charging developers 30% on each sale, app prices were inflated to the point where there were no realistic alternatives for consumers.
