Apple has released a public beta of iWork for iCloud, meaning that iPhone and iPad users can log in to the site to find browser-based versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

As of Friday, users with an Apple ID can access Apple’s iWork suite – which entails Pages, Numbers and Keynote – by heading to iCloud.com.

All three apps have a yellow ‘beta’ banner to show that remain a work in progress but they can be used for the usual functions, like word processing on Pages, creating and editing spreadsheets with Numbers, and presentations with Keynote.

Apple announced iWork for iCloud at the WWDC in June and the service works with Safari, Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers.

The cloud-based solution should come out of beta when Apple releases iOS 7 to the public next month.
