Google Play now features 'Designed for tablets' apps category

by David Needle

November 22 2013

Google has customized its Google Play store to call out apps specifically designed for tablets.

After announcing the plan last month, Google Play now features a new category in Google Play called "Designed for tablets." If you're using a tablet, you will see this as your default view, though you can still access non-tablet apps from your tablet.

Google had earlier released a set of design criteria to help Android developers ensure their apps were tablet-friendly. Apps and games that do not meet Google's “Designed for tablets” criteria are marked as “Designed for phones” for users browsing the Play Store on their tablets.
