Apple's new Best of 2013 page at its iTunes store awarded the language learning program Duolingo its Best iPhone app of the year award, while Disney Interactive won for best iPad app.

Duolingo, recently reviewed by TabTimes, is also available as an iPad app. The free apps takes a unique crowd-sourcing approach to help you learn a foreign language.

The Disney Animated ($9.99) iPad app gives fans access to animated character assets such as text, art, sound, images, interviews, and interactive activities. The latest update includes behind-the-scenes access to the concept art, character sketches, test animation, and scenes from Disney's latest animated film Frozen.

As noted in TabTimes Games, Apple named Frogmind's Badlands its game of the year.

TabTimes will start accepting entries to the Tabby Awards, the only worldwide competition focused on the best tablet apps across a number of different categories, early next year. The website has the full list of 2013 Tabby Awards winners.
