Google unwrapped Chrome Remote Desktop for Android today, a free app that lets you access a computer from an Android smartphone or tablet.

Specifically, you can use Chrome Remote Desktop for Android to remotely connect to and control a Microsoft Windows PC or Mac OS X computer on your Android phone or tablet.

The app is available for free from the Google Play store.

The reason for the name is that Chrome software is the framework for the connection and you’ll need the Chrome browser installed on the remote computer in order to connect to it through your Android device.
