Who will win this year's Tabby Awards?
Who will win this year's Tabby Awards?

A first of its kind awards competition has been announced for tablet apps by TabTimes.

The Tabby Awards will recognize the best tablet apps for iPad, Android and Windows 8 tablets based on specific features and utility.

Judging will be performed by a panel of tablet professionals and the competition will be open to both native apps and web apps from developers worldwide.

Consumer and Business apps will be evaluated by two separate panels, with the Business category representing the focus of this year’s first round.

“Everyone can now see that tablets are truly new and specific devices - not just large smartphones or keyboard-less keyboards," says TabTimes CEO Patrick Pierra. "We felt that tablet apps could not be truly appreciated in the context of the web or mobile competition -- that's why we created the Tabby Awards."

The Business panel will review all apps geared for business people or developed for organizational purposes. The panel includes 12 accomplished tablet professionals and is chaired by Alan Maserek, ex-CEO and co-founder of QuickOffice, the best-selling iPad app in the App Store’s Business category.

How to submit an entry

Submissions are now being accepted for business tablet apps at TabbyAwards.com

Winners for The Tabby Awards/Business will be announced at a special ceremony during the TabletBiz Conference & Expo, the first dedicated tablet industry event, in New York City, on November 27, 2012.

The fee per entry is US$95, but there's an early-bird rate – for entries registered until October 1st, 11:59 pm ET –  of only US$55. The second round of the competition, focused on tablet apps for consumers, will be announced at a later date.
