The Tabby Awards, the only competition that celebrates the best in tablet apps worldwide, has revealed its list of the top tablet apps for business as chosen by an independent panel of expert judges.

TabTimes announced The Tabby Awards /Business winners at a ceremony yesterday in New York City, at the end of the TabTimes TabletBiz conference & expo.

Tabby Awards trophies were handed out to the publishers of the 18 best business and productivity tablet apps on all major platforms (iOS, Android and Windows 8), and the winners were selected from over 100 submissions from the US and a dozen other countries including Canada, Germany, Poland, and Australia.

The winning apps were mostly iPad apps, but the list does include two Android apps and one Windows 8 app.

Two companies managed to receive two awards. Brainshark and its SlideShark app were given trophies in the Presentation and Productivity categories. SAP took home two trophies: One for its EMR Unwired app in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical category; the other for its Retail Execution app in the Consumer Products and Services category.

In addition to US-based app publishers, companies from Australia, Canada, Germany and Poland were also among the winners.

The apps were evaluated by an international jury of more than 20 tablet app developers and mobile experts. The judging panel was chaired by Milind Gadekar, co-founder and CEO of CloudOn - a chart-topping and previous Tabby Awards winning app.

"I have been extremely impressed by the work from all of the finalists, and it has been a challenge to select the winners amongst so many great apps ," said Gadekar. "As tablets continue to bridge our personal and professional lives, these applications are increasingly important and it is encouraging to see such focus on helping today's workforce stay productive."
