New Chromecast developer kit will bring more streaming TV apps to Android and iOS users

Google has released a software development kit (SDK) designed to grow the number of apps for its nifty little $35 HDMI plug in stick that lets you stream web content to your TV.

Up until now only a small number of apps were officially supported, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Google Play Movies, HBO Go, and Pandora.

The launch of an official Google Cast SDK should add many more apps to that list for Android, iOS and web users of the Chrome browser.

Google maintains a website that shows an updated list of apps that work with Chromecast.
