According to Bloomberg, Amazon has begun testing a new service which would allow in-app purchases on the Kindle Fire tablet.

The news source says that the in-app purchasing system would allow for both monthly subscriptions (like magazines, for example) and for one-off purchases, and claims that this system has already been tested, with physical fitness app Skimble claiming to have trialled the system for the past month. Bloomberg says that Amazon will charge a 30% commission on in-app purchases.

Having launched its first tablet, the Kindle Fire, in September of last year, Amazon is rumored to be working on a number of new tablets for launch later on this year. Taiwanese sources close to the supply chain say that the e-commerce giant could launch as many as four tablets in 2012, including two 7-inch devices, a 8.9-inch model and a 10.1-inch tablet. Digitimes says that the last model could debut as early as July of this year.
