Ematic has launched the eGlide Prism; a 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet with a 3D display, for an affordable $157.16.

The tablet has a pretty rudimentary 800 x 480 resolution display (although it is able to play HD video up to 2160p video) and a single-core 1GHz processor, while it also sports 8GB of flash memory, 512MB of system memory, 5GB of cloud storage and a microSD card slot offering another 32GB of storage. 3D red and cyan glasses are also included if you really feel the need to watch 3D video on the move.

The tablet is now available from ShopNBC for a sale price of $157.16, but usually retails for $216, and launches just days after rumors emerged on a glasses-free 3D tablet from Polaroid. A few days prior to that, UK vendor Ergo Electronics also unveiled its own line of budget Ice Cream Sandwich tablets.

To date, Ematic has launched a raft of budget Android tablets, including the eGlide FunTab, eGlide XL2 and eGlide Pro last October, and earlier this month announced ‘Edan’ (which stands for Ematic Digital Assistant and Navigator), a new digital assistant that is exclusive to the firm’s range of tablets.

The voice-powered virtual assistant app comes pre-loaded on all new Ematic tablets from April and works similarly to Siri, by allowing users to ask questions on anything from weather forecasts to movie times and directions. There’s also the ability to dictate an email, open up an app and Tweet or update your Facebook status. Existing Ematic tablet owners can now download Edan from the Ematic app store.
