According to ZDNet, the launch of the Google and Samsung branded Nexus 10 tablet will mark the first time Samsung’s new Exynos 5 SoC has featured in a 10-inch tablet.

The source explains that this move would be significant because Samsung has largely not used its semiconductors for its own smartphones and tablets.

For example, the second-generation Galaxy Tab uses Texas Instruments’ OMAP chipset and the North American version of the Galaxy S3 smartphone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, although in recent times Samsung’s Exynos 4 has made its way to the Galaxy Note 10.1 and international versions of the S3 and Galaxy Note 'phablet'.

Exynos 5 succeeds the Exynos 4 and has been clocked at 1.7GHz. The dual-core chipset utilizes the latest generation ARM Cortex A-15 architecture and features the ARM Mali T604 quad-core GPU.

Recent reports reveal that the co-branded Nexus 10 tablet will run the Exynos 5 SoC, have a Samsung-manufactured 2560 x 1600 resolution display and could come into the market at a price point of $349.

A purported video of the tablet was discovered online over the weekend.
