Android battery saver app scores over 10 million downloads in less than a year

Tablets have proven to be a great mobility choice for their ability to let you do real work - and play - on a compact and light device. But having your tablet or smartphone run out of battery power when recharging isn't an option is no fun at all.

That may help explain why Android app Du Battery Saver, has been a runaway hit.

The company just announced Du Battery Saver has had over 10 million downloads since its release last September on Google Play. That figure includes both the free and paid Pro version that sells for $2.99.

The Pro version adds advanced adaptive power management that automatically switches to an “aggressive power saving mode.” You can also schedule automatic clean-ups to clear unused background apps (while whitelisting most-used apps to protect them).

With the free version of Du Battery Saver you can check battery status, health and temperature. The company says it gives more accurate estimates of the remaining charge on their phones and tablets than what comes with the device as well as and how long they need to wait for a full charge when plugged in.

With a tap of the “diagnose” button, Du Battery Saver scans the entire system to identify what might causing the biggest drain of power. If you then tap “Optimize” the app will automatically shut down unused background apps, and suggest other ways to increase battery life.

The app also shows how much power they’ve saved.

There are four pre-set Smart Power modes to choose from and you can also tweak the settings when you are away from a charger for an extended period. For example, you can choose “long mode,” where calls and SMS remain on, but networks are turned off.

Du Battery Saver claims you can save up to 50% of your battery charge using the program.
