HP has dropped the price of its 8GB and 16GB Slate 7 tablets to just $139.99 and $169.99, respectively.

Android Community first noticed the discounts on HP’s website, and the deals see $30 shaved off the price of each tablet.

The 8GB model is available in silver while the 16GB model is available in red. Colors aside however and both tablets sport identical specs.

The Wi-Fi-only tablet has a 7-inch 1024 x 600 resolution display, a dual-core 1.6GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of RAM and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.  It also features dual-facing cameras (VGA on the front, 3MP on the rear), a microSD card slot and a 3500 mAh battery that can last for up for five hours.

GigaOM has a detailed review on what the price discounts mean for HP in its bid to compete with Google and other entry-level tablet vendors.
