Rumor: Amazon to launch three new Kindle Fire tablets later this year

Amazon will reportedly introduce as many as three new Kindle Fire tablets later this year, with two of these set to have super hi-resolution displays.

“Trusted sources” told tech blog BGR today that the first of these tablets will be a direct replacement for the 7-inch Kindle Fire, which currently sells for $159, and has claimed that the newer model will sport an improved IPS resolution display of 1280 x 800 (the current model is 1024 x 600).

Indeed, improving displays seems to be a priority at the ecommerce giant as the two other new models are also said to sport high-resolution displays.

The follow-up model to the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD is expected to have a 1920 x 1200 resolution display -- which is better than 1280 x 800 on the original -- while the second-generation 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is apparently coming with a striking 2560 x 1600 screen.
