Expect an avalanche of 8-inch tablets from Acer, Lenovo, Samsung and others to hit the market in time for the holiday season.
Falling in line with predictions from analysts that 2013 will be the year of the 8-inch tablet, Digitimes reports that display panel makers expect to see rising orders for the screen size throughout the third quarter of 2013.
Citing industry sources, the technology news website claims that the order increase will have an adverse effect on 7-inch tablet, pushing down both panel orders and prices, and even expects 8-inch tablets to pose a threat to 9 and 10-inch models throughout the year.
Despite the early success of 7-inch models from Amazon, Google and others, the tablet market has shown signs of moving to a bigger size in recent months. 8-inch tablets have come from Acer, Apple and Samsung, while Microsoft is reportedly soon to join this group with a new 8-inch Surface RT tablet.Source article
