Move over Google – Asus trumps Nexus 7 with $99 Android tablet

by TabTimes Staff

July 29 2013

Google might not be so happy with its hardware partner Asus now that the Taiwanese firm is selling its respectable MeMo Pad HD 7 tablet for just $99 on Amazon.

The tablet only debuted for $129 in June but it now seems that Asus is attempting to clear inventory, something KGI Security analyst Mingchi Kuo mentioned last week when he claimed that the new Nexus 7 would not be successful.

The MeMo Pad HD 7 has a 7-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display (that’s a pixel density of 216 pixels per inch), a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a micro SD memory slot and dual-facing cameras (5MP on the back, 1.2MP on the front).

The tablet, which appears to be temporarily out of stock, runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is not yet known if the device will upgrade to the new Android 4.3 operating system.
