Amazon chalks 15% off Kindle Fire tablets to celebrate FAA ruling

by Doug Drinkwater

November 4 2013

In celebration of the Federal Aviation Administration allowing portable electronics to be used throughout an entire flight, Amazon has discounted some of its Kindle products for one day only.

The online retail giant announced on Monday that the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX 7 and $69 Kindle eReader would be eligible for a 15% discount when used with the promo code “ThnksFAA” at the checkout. The promotion is for one-day only however so interested buyers will need to act fast.

“We’ve been fighting for our customers on this issue for years, and we are thrilled by the FAA’s recent decision — this is a big win for customers," said Amazon VP Drew Herdener in a statement.

"Delta and JetBlue have already started flights with the new rules — we’re excited to see which airlines are next.”
