Samsung chief vows to bring foldable screens to devices by 2016

by TabTimes Staff

November 6 2013

Samsung executives have reportedly promised that fully-foldable screens will be coming to its collection of mobile devices from 2016.

According to SammyMobile, Vice Chairman and CEO, Oh-Hyun Kwon, ran the rule over its roadmap at the Samsung Analyst Day in Korea on Wednesday and highlighted that ‘curved’ – like the one featuring on the Galaxy Round – and ‘bended’ screens will come to market over the next year.

Fold-able displays are then expected to arrive in 2016 through to 2017.

Of course, innovation like this doesn’t come without obstacles and this is something Samsung has even recognized.

The firm said at the event that there were numerous “technical challenges”, which presumably could entail also trying to make foldable processors and batteries.
