Putting an end to a series of rumors and leaks, Samsung made it official today, announcing the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite Android tablet.

As befitting its "Lite" name many of the features match those of the current Tab 3, while others have been removed in a tablet the company says sports a "slimmer, more portable design."

Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, the Tab 3 Lite has a 7-inch 1,024 x 600-pixel display, a 2-megapixel rear camera, 1GB of memory, 8GB of storage, and a microSD card slot that can up the storage to 32GB.

Pricing and availability haven't been announced, but given the "regular" Galaxy Tab 3 sells for $200, it's a good bet this Lite version will sell for less.
