Apple, Samsung 2014 forecast: Will ship 80-90M and 60-70M tablets respectively

Apple and Samsung Electronics aren't expected to lose their positions as the top two global tablet vendors in 2014.A

Sources with Taiwan-based supply chain makers said they expect Apple to ship between 80-90 million and Samsung 60-70 million tablets in 2014.

In addition to new versions of their existing models, Samsung's recently announced plans to release "Pro" 12.2-inch tablets is expected to spur Apple to accelerate development of large-size iPads.

Market sources indicate Apple is likely to release a 12.9-inch iPad by the end of the third quarter at the earliest.
