Rumor: Google plans to kill off Nexus in 2015

by TabTimes Staff

January 27 2014

Controversial Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin, who has a mixed track record in recent years with leaks, claims Google plans to phase out the Nexus brand in 2015 in favor of its Play Edition lineup of devices that will also see it partner with more manufacturers.

“Nexus line by Google is over in 2015 ;),” Murtazin tweeted. “Yes – this line will be replaced by Play Edition (current name, it will be rebranded).”

Google usually partners with a single manufacturer such as LG for the Nexus 5 smartphone and Asus for the Nexus 7 tablet.
