Mag+ embraces Newsstand with 12 titles

Mag+ has announced that a dozen of its client magazines now stock Apple’s Newsstand on iOS 5.

The 12 magazines comprise Maxim+, Popular Photography+, Popular Science+, Sound+ Vision, Outside+, TransWorld Snowboarding+, as well as lesser-known titles CMode, Skona hem, Allt om Mat+, Mama, YourLife+ and STYLEBY+.

Mag+ is the flagship product of Moving Media+ and is a publishing platform that is optimised use on touchscreen tablets. The platform has already taken dozens of US, European and Asian magazines and other publication onto Apple’s iPad, with Popular Science+ the first to premiere on the tablet in April 2010.

Newsstand is one of the new features of iOS 5 and provides a tailored hub for digital magazine subscriptions, as well as a link to periodicals in the App Store. The feature is designed especially for the iPad and automatically updates its virtual shelves with the latest issues, artwork and new subscriptions. “Newsstand is a key development we’ve been looking forward to on behalf of publishers and readers”, said Moving Media+ CEO Staffan Ekholm. "We’re committed to helping publishers deliver beautiful, engaging magazines to tablet readers and to exploiting all the revolutionary possibilities of tablet publishing”.

Built by the R&D task force of global publishing powerhouse Bonnier Magazine Group, Mag+ was spun out as an independent company earlier this year.
