Forget those rumors suggesting an April launch for the fifth-generation iPad -- a new report suggests that Apple won’t start volume production on the tablet until July or August.
Citing sources in the supply chain, Taiwanese tech news website Digitimes claims that volume production of the fifth-generation iPad will “kick off in July-August 2013".
The news website, a consistent source of Apple rumors, adds that the new design will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor, and will adopt a slim bezel design to make it look similar to the iPad mini. This view would certainly concur with reports from earlier this year.
A number of tech sites have claimed that Apple is to launch the next iPad in April (some earlier reports even speculated that the model would be released in March), although with a Retina Display-featuring iPad mini also on the horizon, it may be that this event is instead geared up for Apple's next 7.9-inch tablet.
