An update to the Chrome browser for iOS lets you speak your search queries.
An update to the Chrome browser for iOS lets you speak your search queries.

Google said a significant update to its Chrome browser for iPad and iPhone should be available to users in the next few days.

The update adds voice features so, for example, you can just touch the microphone and speak a voice query like ‘Where’s the nearest Starbucks?”

Google said “in some cases” the answer will be spoken back to you rather than displayed on the screen, though it’s not clear which queries will get the voice response.

“This update also enables faster reloading of web pages by using the cache more efficiently when the network is slow, which is especially useful when you’re on the go,” Google said in a blog post. One other new feature in the iOS app gives users the option to open links in Chrome and then return to the app with just one tap.
