Apple's tax problems have extended to France where a professional association that collects revenue for artists' copyrighted works claims the iPad maker skipped out on paying up to 5 million in euros for royalties to authors, creators, producers, and actors.

Apple Insider reports that the tax applies to all computer hardware that can be used with copyrighted material.

The French government is also considering instituting a so-called "culture tax" on devices like Apple's iPhone and iPad.
