Wednesday will mark the 5th anniversary of the launch of Apple's App Store and the company is making some of the online storefront's more popular apps free this week to celebrate.

The promotion includes game titles such as Infinity Blade IISuperbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, BadlandTiny Wings and Where’s my water? as well as some relatively pricier apps, such as Traktor DJ ($19.99) for the iPhone or iPad that are also now available as a free download.

Apple's first App Store, pre-iPad, launched in 2008 along with the iPhone 3G, the second generation of the iPhone.
