Apple determined to appeal ruling in E-Book antitrust case

by TabTimes Staff

September 6 2013

Apple’s long-running antitrust case over e-book pricing came to a close with a decision by Judge Denise Cote of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that imposes several restrictions on the iPad maker.

Specifically, the ruling restricts how Apple can negotiate with publishers for the next five years and ordered the appointment of special compliance auditors to make sure it follows the orders of the injunction.

However, Apple plans to appeal the decision.

“Apple did not conspire to fix ebook pricing," the company said in a statement given to TechCrunch. "The iBookstore gave customers more choice and injected much-needed innovation and competition into the market. Apple will pursue an appeal of the injunction.”
