Southwest & Dish agree to lend iPad 2s to passengers for in-flight entertainment

Satellite TV provider Dish and low-cost airline Southwest are expanding their partnership to loan iPad 2 tablets to passengers for free during flights on certain routes.

The companies announced the news on Tuesday and said that the program will be available to passengers on Wi-Fi enabled flights between the Denver, Oakland and Chicago Midway airports.

Flyers will be able to pick up their free iPads at in-terminal Dish kiosks prior to their departure. They will then have to return the tablet at the kiosk after arriving at their destination.

This is an extension of the companies “TV Flies Free” program, which lets travellers watch live TV and on-demand services for no extra cost.
