Target may have the best iPad trade-in / trade-up deal of all

by David Needle

November 5 2013

Target is offering at least $200 for any iPad model towards the purchase of a new iPad. That deal is more than double what other sites are offering for a first generation iPad, though the value is strictly for use at Target stores or the company's online site.

For example, trading in an original first gen iPad to Gazelle would get you just $80 if the iPad was in flawless condition, but that would be cash you could spend anywhere. Amazon says that you could only get up to $120 in Amazon Store credit for an iPad with the same specifications.

There are a couple of key requirements connected to Target's deal. You have to take the iPad to one its in-store mobility kiosks to be appraised. To be eligible for the trade-in, the iPad must power on and the screen must be free of scratches.

You can spend the $200 Target gift card on a new iPad or, if you prefer, other Target merchandise.
