No contest for Apple buyers, most holiday shoppers pick the iPad Air

Apple’s release of new iPads a few months ago has kept the company firmly in the top spot as to which brand consumers intend to buy. 

A new survey by ChangeWave Research says there’s been a spike in consumer tablet demand with 13% of those surveyed in November saying they planned on buying a tablet in the next 90 days. That figure is more than double what ChangeWave found in a survey three months earlier in August.

Apple’s iPad is the overwhelming choice of these buyers with 72% saying they’ll purchase an iPad – a 17-point jump from the earlier survey.

Of those planning to buy an iPad, most plan to go with Apple’s full-sized more expensive iPad Air (55%) than the smaller, less expensive iPad mini with Retina display (16%).

Although in 4th place, Microsoft is at least up a point (8%) for its Surface line among those planning to buy a tablet. Samsung (9%) is down 4-points), while Google (9%) is down 3 points from the August survey.
