Looks like Apple is about ready to give the iPad 2 the heave-ho

by TabTimes Staff

February 13 2014

Next month will be the third anniversary of when the iPad 2 was released. That's a long time in tablet years.

The iPad 2 is also the only full-sized tablet in Apple's lineup not to include a Retina display and is powered by Apple's older A5 chip.

While there's no firm date on when it will be discontinued, sources told AppleInsider it will happen "in the near future."

When Apple released the iPad Air last year at $499, it dropped the then current 4th generation iPad, but kept the 2nd generation iPad 2 at the same $399 price it's been selling for since 2012.
