Later this year Apple is expected to refresh its iPad line with new models. Now a recent discovery indicates those new models will include Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor already included in the latest iPhone.

Looking deep in the code for the Touch ID framework in iOS 7.1, Twitter user and developer "UNiCORN" found a reference to Apple's iPad lineup that suggests the next-generation iPad mini and iPad Air may include the company's fingerprint scanning technology.

The addition of fingerprint scanning was already forecast earlier this month by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities who said he expects both the iPad Air and iPad mini updates will include Touch ID fingerprint sensor and be powered by a new A8 processor.
