A new report claims that Apple’s iPad Mini tablet will feature a slimmer bezel, making it look more like a large iPhone or iPod Touch than a small iPad.

This claim comes from tech website 9to5Mac, which published a mock-up image of the tablet on the back of tips it had received from sources close to Apple.

These tipsters told the website that the iPad Mini will “look like a big iPod Touch”, with the model having slimmer bezels on the side and separate volume controls. Despite this, the 7.85-inch iPad Mini is stilln expected to have an aspect ratio of 4:3, as with the rest of the iPad family.

Apple will reportedly announce the iPad Mini and iPhone 5 on September 12, before launching both models onto the market nine days later. The iPad Mini is expected to rival Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire and will reportedly boast a 7.85-inch display, 16GB of memory and a price of $299.
