Apple's iPad Mini will be WiFi-only and will sell for under $250, according to one market researcher.

UBM TechInsights analyst Allan Yosasingam told Light Reading that the 7.85-inch iPad Mini with come without 3G or 4G cellular connectivity as Apple looks to keep the tablet's price below $250. Yosasingam also ruled out the possibility that the tablet could debut at today’s iPhone 5 announcement.

"Our suspicion is that that the iPad Mini will be Wi-Fi only. One can suspect that there will be no baseband [3G and 4G radio] processor in the iPad Mini as Apple will look to the cost reduction of eliminating that chip and the corresponding baseband power amplifiers.”

Yosasingam also reckons that Apple could forego a rear-facing camera as another cost-cutting measure.

Of all the rumors so far, it looks most likely that the iPad Mini will have a 7.85-inch 1024 x 768 resolution display, will run iOS 6.0 and will turn up in October for somewhere between $249 and $329.
