Intel, the world’s largest chipmaker, is holding an event for its Windows 8 tablet partners in San Francisco next week.

Paul Otellini’s firm is holding the event, which takes place on September 27 at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, to “showcase” new Windows 8 tablets based on the Intel Clover Trail chipset.

Executives from Acer, Asus, Samsung, Dell, HP, ZTE and Lenovo are all expected to turn up the event, presumably with their respective Windows 8 slates.

As touched upon above, the event will also turn up new details on Intel’s new Clover Trail system-on-chip (SoC) processor. Clover Trail is the codename for the next-generation Atom chipset, which have already been spotted inside HP’s Envy X2 tablet and Samsung’s Smart PC slate.

Windows 8 officially goes live to the general public on October 25, with Microsoft’s own-brand Surface still expected to debut a day later. Windows 8 slates from third-party vendors will reportedly be launched around the same time.
