Windows Store now has almost 13,000 Windows 8 apps

by Doug Drinkwater

November 7 2012

Microsoft's big push for developers to ready their desktop and tablet Windows 8 applications continues to go on as sources reveal that the Windows Store is now up to just under 13,000 apps.

According to a tweet from apps tracker WinAppUpdate, the Windows Store now stands at 12,895 applications, with the figure suggesting that 2,895 of these have been added in the last eight days.

This comes despite Microsoft publicly claiming that the Windows Store has more apps at launch than any other app store, and would seem to reinforce the view that the firm has a way to go before achieving its target of having 100,000 new apps in the store by the end of January.
