Major U.S. retailers Best Buy and Staples are now stocking Microsoft’s Surface tablet with Windows RT, marking the first time the tablet has become available to third-party resellers.
Both retailers are offering the WiFi-only Surface RT at Microsoft’s prices -- $499.99 for the 32GB model, $599.99 including a Touch Cover and $699.99 for a 64GB edition with the Touch Cover. Additional Touch Covers will set buyers back $119.99 at each outlet, although Staples also appears to be offering the Type Cover for $129.99 and a handful of other accessories.
Further retail availability is unknown at this point, although Business Insider has claimed that the tablet could come to Wal-Mart in the near future.
Since launching the Surface RT tablet on October 26, Microsoft has been seen to be struggling with sales and distribution of the device, which has up until now only been available through Microsoft's website and retail stores.
