Lenovo has confirmed that the twice-delayed ThinkPad 2 Windows 8 tablet is now available for order and expects the model to reach customers in early January.
The tablet subsequently never made it to market on the revised date, and although the model did revisit and pass FCC recently, there were suggestions just this week that some Windows 8 tablet vendors have been struggling with a problem with Intel’s Clover Trail chips.
As it is, Lenovo had today confirmed on its website that the business-ready Windows 8 tablet will arrive on January 8.
The ThinkPad 2 is available in various guises, with the 64GB WiFi model starting from $649. All ThinkPad 2 tablets offer a 10.1-inch screen, the dual-core Intel Clover Trail Z2760 processor (clocked at 1.8GHz), ports for USB 2.0 and HDMI, and compatibility with existing Office applications.
Optional extras include a stylus, a digitizer screen and a keyboard stand.
