Microsoft will unveil an 8-inch Surface RT tablet for as little as $249 next month with another 10-inch model to come in the third quarter, according to reports.
Citing component suppliers in Taiwan, Digitimes claims that the smaller Surface tablet will have an 8-inch Samsung display (contrary to earlier reports), an Nvidia processer and will be produced by ODM vendor Pegatron.
The tablet is expected to launch sometime in June, which doesn’t look unrealistic given Microsoft’s Build developer conference takes place later in the same month. It has been rumored that the device will debut for $399, although Digitimes separately reports the price to be between $249 and $299.
The source adds that Microsoft will follow up the original 10.6-inch Surface RT and Surface Pro with another 10-inch model in the third quarter.
