Looks like Microsoft is going to launch an 8-inch Surface RT tablet this month

Microsoft will reportedly unveil its second-generation Surface RT later this month, with sources claiming that the tablet will have an 8-inch display and will be priced between $249 and $299.

Citing "upstream supply chain" sources, Digitimes claims that the model will feature Nvidia's Tegra processor and will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology.

If this model does come to market at the rumored price, it would be a worry for Acer -- which has already launched an 8-inch Windows 8 tablet at $379 -- but that doesn't mean it would be a success.
That's the view of some analysts, according to Digitimes, who reckon success could be tough going considering the weak sales of the original Surface RT and the fierce competition in the 7 to 8-inch tablet market.
The news website does have a spotty record when it comes to rumors like these, but this is the second time in a month that it has claimed that Microsoft is to launch an 8-inch Surface RT tablet in June.
