Nokia might announce a new phablet or tablet tomorrow

Nokia promises that it will announce "something big" on Tuesday

Finnish handset maker Nokia coyly said it will announce “something big” on Tuesday, leading to speculation that a new phablet or tablet might be on tap.

In a note on its Nokia Conversations blog, the company said that it ‘can’t tell you what it is yet’ but advised visitors to return to the blog for the announcement at 9.a.m UK time on Tuesday.

Nokia announced its high-end Lumia 1020 smartphone in New York just a few days ago, which could mean that the announcement is a new tablet or phablet device.

Online reports suggest that it could be for the Nokia Lumia 625, a mid-range Windows Phone 8 device but with a 4.7-inch screen and dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

A first tablet from Nokia looks much less unlikely, given the firm’s recent decision to abandon its Windows RT tablet in favour of a fully-fledged Windows 8 model.
