Nokia’s first tablet could finally be on its way to market. A new report claims that the firm may debut a Windows 8 model at a press conference later next month.
WPCentral received an anonymous tip on Thursday with the source claiming that Nokia is to hold a press event in New York City on September 26 and 27.
With the Finnish handset maker having recently introduced the high-end Lumia 1020 smartphone and mid-range Lumia 625 phablet, the article suggests that the firm could take the wraps off its first tablet.
If that were the case, the tablet would more than likely run Windows 8 rather than Windows RT.
The ARM-powered version of Windows 8 was widely-publicized to be running on a prototype Nokia tablet for some time, with a recent benchmark seemingly confirming the existence of a Nokia tablet with Windows RT and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 system-on-chip.
However, a recent report from The Verge suggested that Nokia has now switched its attention from Windows RT to fully-fledged Windows 8.
