Lenovo has confirmed that its new Windows 8 tablet – the 10-inch Miix 10 – is now on sale from its website with the model to start shipping on August 16.
Announced only at the end of June, the Miix 10 is now listed on the Lenovo website and a run-down on the specs reveals that the tablet has a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 resolution display, a 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 CPU, 2GB of LPDDR2 memory, 64GB of eMMC flash storage and a rather measly 1.0MP front-facing camera.
The slate is Wi-Fi-only (3G is optional) does also come with Bluetooth 4.0, a micro SD slot and connections for micro HDMI and USB. The starting price of $599 is not dissimilar to the price of Microsoft's Surface Pro but does include a free detachable keyboard.
Lenovo says that orders should be shipped on August 16, although this can vary. A quick look at the tablet's product page revealed an estimated ship date of August 28.
It looks like ‘Miix’ is the latest tablet brand from Lenovo, with Microsoft officials having supposedly showed off an 8-inch Miix tablet – also running Windows 8 – at Computex in June. Lenovo has however not yet released any details on that particular device.
