Dell VP Neil Hand showcased an unnamed Windows Bay Trail tablet at the Intel Developer Forum on Tuesday, a model which he says will be part of the firm’s forthcoming Venue series.
The tablet offers a 8-inch 1280 x 800 resolution display, runs Windows 8.1 and will charge over micro USB. The slate is also likely to have a HDMI out port for video mirroring and a compartment housing a docking port and micro SD storage slot.
Hand said that the new Venue tablets (the Venue range was previously used for Dell’s now defunct smartphones) will focus on providing long battery life and ease of use and said that the new tablet collection is to be unveiled at a press event in New York on October 2.
The Dell exec spoke at TabTimes’ TabletBiz conference in the same city last year, where he launched a staunch defence of Microsoft’s beleaguered Windows RT.
