Next Windows 8.1 Update might let cheaper tablets run Microsoft's OS

The latest Windows 8.1 Update rumor is the release will likely be timed to coincide with Microsoft's monthly Patch Tuesday on March 11. 

A trusted source also says Update 1 may include work Microsoft has been doing behind the scenes to further reduce the memory and disk space requirements for Windows.

If so, such improvements would, in theory, allow Windows 8.1 Update 1 to run on cheaper small tablets.
