Microsoft plans to offer its Lync unified communications app for Android tablets by the end of this June.

In a demo of the capability at the Lync conference in Las Vegas today, Microsoft Corporate VP Gurdeep Singh Pall reportedly planned to demonstrate the Android tablet app. A beta of the app is also supposed to be available this week to select testers, according to ZDNet columnist Mary Jo Foley.

Designed for business users, Lync includes corporate instant messaging, VOIP and conferencing capabilities. Microsoft positions Skype as the unified-communications choice for outside the firewall and Lync as the choice for inside the firewall.
