Panasonic's newest Toughpad offers up to 10 hours of continuous battery life off a single battery.

Tapping the latest Intel processor and adding other improvements, Panasonic has upgraded its “fully -rugged” Toughpad FZ-G1 10-inch Windows 8.1 Pro tablet.

The new tablet is powered by Intel’s 4th generation Intel Core i5 vPro processor and improved battery life of up to 10 hours of continuous use. A new, optional bridge battery gives users the ability to hot swap a battery without powering down the tablet.

Maintaining the key features of its rugged design, the FZ-G1 has many of the same features of the model it replaces, including a fully-rugged design certified to meet IP65 and MIL-STD-810G specifications for drops (up to 4 feet), shock, vibration, altitude, humidity and extreme temperatures.

Touchscreen enhancements include a daylight-readable display with 10-point gloved multitouch technology + digitizer that is operational even in wet conditions.

Even more security is available via an optional Opal-compliant, self-encrypting drive that will be available later this summer.

The Toughpad FZ-G1 has a list price of $2,599 and is available through authorized Panasonic resellers.
