Fuze Telepresence brings visual collaboration to Android tablets

Tablets are a great, lightweight portable way to stay connected with the office via email and chat sessions and a growing number of video conference solutions have emerged from established players like Skype to the Hangout feature in Google’s new Google+ social network.

Now FuzeBox has added its Fuze Telepresence Connect solution to the mix for Android tablets including those from Acer, Asus, Motorola, Samsung, Toshiba, LG and others. This may be of special interest to corporate users who want to extend the reach of their in-house telepresence systems. Fuze Telepresence Connect enables “one-click” interoperability between Polycom, Tandberg, LifeSize and other video conference systems into a single meeting accessible from Android tablets as well as “virtually any mobile device or computer,” according to FuzeBox.

“Whether you use a Mac or a PC, an iPad or Android tablet or even a smartphone, our products allow you to be part of the conversation wherever you find yourself,” said Fuzebox CEO Jeff Cavins, in a release.

The company’s Fuze Meeting and Fuze Telepresence Connect applications are designed to let  people communicate, collaborate and share content from any device, across any network, anywhere in the world. Fuze Meeting is a mobile and web-based collaboration service that features integrated audio conferencing as well as high-definition, synchronized video and image sharing. Fuze Telepresence Connect is a cloud-based solution that the company says eliminates the interoperability problem inherent in proprietary telepresence and video conferencing systems; enabling all devices including mobile tablets, to interoperate with telepresence environments.

FuzeBox is tapping into a huge market. Worldwide spending on telepresence and video conferencing equipment has been growing by more than 30% annually, according to market researcher Infonetics Research, which expects the market to reach $5.4 billion annually by 2015.
