iPad owners love to email but think some email apps could be better: study
Email client developer Perion has conducted a new study which finds that, for the majority of users, the iPad is now the favoured device when it comes to reading and writing emails.
Surveying 4,400 iPad users in the U.S. in the second half of 2012, Perion found that 90% of respondents deem using email on the iPad to be “very important” or “extremely important”, with two-thirds now checking email more than three times a day on their iPad.
What makes these figures even more impressive is that most iPad users appear to think email iPad apps can get better. Indeed, of those surveyed, just 41% admitted to being extremely satisfied with their email apps on their iDevice.
Perion’s study has a whole host of interesting stats including the following:
- 97% read emails on their iPad and two-thirds will send a few quick replies. 31% claim to read and send all their emails from their iPad.
- Women are more likely to send personal emails, while 52% of men say that they send business emails.
- 38% of respondents used the iPad for personal and work emails.
- Apple’s own Mail client is the favorite email app (41% of users), followed by Gmail (31%) and Hotmail (13%). Almost one in five iPad users (18%) prefer to open web browsers to view their email on the iPad.
